"Unsuccessful" Animal Testing

Over the centuries and all throughout time, so-called scientists have been trying out pharmaceuticals on innocent animals. Though, whatever "results" are derived from these tests can go right a head and be thrown out the window.
The reason:animal and human bodies, no matter how similar, are not alike and therefore whatever medicine might not have a side effect on rats or mice, can do major damage to the humans.

*In London, tests subjects were given TGN142, an experimental therapy for MS and rheumatoid arthritis. The mice and the rats were perfectly fine but withing mere minutes the men were rolling on the ground in agony and screaming out in pain. Several that day were left to suffer for the rest of their lives with organ damage.

*While Viagra was still in its preclinical high-dosage test stage, the medicine constipated mice, swelled the lives of rats, and gave beagle dogs with what is known ast "beagle pain syndrome" which makes their backs arch and their necks involuntairly get stiff. Yet, they put it out there in the public for humans to use and nothing happens. What would you do if your dog ate some of those pills if they had been spilled on the floor?

*Organophosphate, a stated safe pesticide, had no recorded side effects in animals, yet cause severe nerve damages in humans that had contact with it.

*Methysergide, tested cure for migraines, showed no life threatening effects in animals during trial testing. But a warning had to be sent out that the drug could only be administered by trained medical staff because it had a multiple list of dangerous effects, like heart failure.

*Oh....get the irony on this:testing in 1934 showed that cirrhosis is not caused by alcohol, after trials were performed on animals that never received this dangerous effect. Yet modern tests have proven that not only does alcohol cause this, but it is literally impossible for animals' livers to corrode due to alcohol.

This Week-Animal Testing

Though it has been awhile since my Psychology class discussed the effects of animal testing, the images and stories I heard still haunt my dreams and challenge everything I ever thought was morally correct.

Cosmetic companies know that animal testing is not accurate, yet they continue to pour products in rabbits' eyes just to see what the reaction is.

Alright, genuises what do you think is going to happen? The rabbits will jump on you and eat your face off? No, animals have unheard voices, so they just sit there and try to struggle while their eyes swell up with pus and tear up,trying to rid the burning chemical.

It amazes me: we only concern ourselves with what hurts a human being, since we think we are superior over every living thing. But we forget that we are not the only ones who can feel and love. So we continue to starve them, conduct absurd experiments on them, and only get emotional when the "results" are not revelant to human beings' bodies. Humans and animals may be built alike, but when it comes to it...WE ARE NOT! What may work on a animal may not work on a person. So, solution: only test on people who are willing to be tested on (since they can reject the experiment but animals are given no choice) or go test on death row inmates. Unless we think that the rule of C.U.P.(cruel unusual punishment) only applies to people.*IT DOESN'T!

Cosmetic companies hold down little rabbits in vices and spray the cosmetics into their eyes to see if it causes, or could cause, redness, stinging, or even blindness! They also have baboons strapped down with their heads in vices to do certain tests on them.

Pharmaceutical companies use animals to produce drugs and health supplements as well. It was estimated by a recently carried research in the United Kingdom that 2.5 million animals are used each year for medical researches, and please be so kind to notice that these estimates do not include rats, mice, fish, and farm animals.
This means that 90 % of all research animals are not included in this horrifying statistic, which could be compared to the number of people killed in the First and Second World Wars. Too many animals are being tested and they do not even need to use animals for these tests – in several cases, computer simulations could be used instead.

One final reason to defend animal rights is that animal testing is cruel, unusual, and pointless. Animals are used every day to help find a cure for a certain disease in many painful ways. For instance, in 1984, at a medical center in California, the United States of America, a child had a heart transplanted from a baboon’s heart and died only two days later. Some had called this a medical miracle while others thought that is quite unwise and dangerous to mingle body parts of humans with that of animals.

STOP ANIMAL TESTING AND ANIMAL CRUELTY!

Animals have done nothing but love, care, want to be with, and cherish us. And how do many people thank them?

They kick them in their ribs, starve them, leave them to fend for themselves, or put them in a sack and throw them into the river.

Some do it because they feel its the right thing, but most do it because they're spiteful and want to see innocent animals get hurt for doing absolutely nothing!

Wonderful organizations like the ASPCA and local humane societies are taking in the animals no one wants, and cares for them, free of charge. But we can do our part too!

Just because you are one person does not mean that you are unable to do something about this....insane killing spree of innocents. You can write to your Congressmen, or some one important who you know will help get the word and get results that PETA supporters, animal lovers, and animals are craving!

Start a peaceful protest, but make sure local authorities know what you're doing so they can keep things from getting out of hand. Donate money to humane places, or volunteer/work at your local humane societies that promise to only put down in cases where life is either out of reach, or so painful that death would be the best solution.

They keep our feet warm on cold, winter nights.

Let us hug them a little too tightly when our day was horrible and we need comfort.

Following us around, watching our plates because they know we will "drop" a piece of that delicious steak on the floor.

And how do we thank this undying loyalty???

We push them away.....or support so-called scientists testing on them to figure out what the results fo a human body would be.

ANIMAL TESTING IS WRONG!!!!

There are humans who would let scientist work on their body......so why study rats when human studies work better??

As the disaster with the drug Thalidomide showed us, you can not put your faith in animal testing.

They are animals, we are humans.

Our bodies are different, so what works on an animal has a 50% chance of working on us.

Animal testing should be stopped..........the "benefits" it has can be found in the experiments we can perform on willing human participants.

(Ironic that humans can stop experiments that's happening to them or decide not to take part in it and animals are forced to, regardless of the psychological effects it has on them.)

FIRST, ANIMAL CRUELTY

It’s something that happens every day, but it shouldn’t even be thought of. Why people think of torturing something that can only defend itself to a point, but prefers to worships its owner and protect them at all costs, confuses me. We need to do all we can to stop this.…it‘s inhumane and cruel…we think about taking away the death sentence because it‘s cruel and unusual, so shouldn’t the ones with the unheard voices get the same treatment?




HOW HARD IS IT TO KEEP YOUR CALM, INSTEAD OF HURTING YOUR ANIMAL?


Animals have feelings-they can feel pain, be affectionate and take care of each other……so why torture them when they’ve done you no wrong??






Second, Animal Testing

Alright….this just messes with my head: how can people have the right, when testing is being done on them, to stop or just not participate in the experiment, when no one really cares what the animal thinks of being shocked everyday just to test what their reaction is.

ANIMAL TESTING SHOULDN’T EXIST! THE BEST WAY TO STUDY THE EFFECTS A MEDICINE OR CLEANING PRODUCT WILL HAVE ON A HUMAN BODY IS TO TEST IT ON A HUMAN……TRUST ME, THERE ARE WILLING PARTICIPANTS WHO WOULD VOLUNTEER FOR THIS!

It’s our turn to do something right, help those who were mistreated by the ones who were supposed to love them. Donate money to the ASPCA, or help out/volunteer at your local humane society. Do all you can…..these beauties with no voices need us and we need them!

Another way to do your part is to write to your local Congressman, State Representative, or anyone in government who’s attention you’d like to get.
Start a peaceful protest in your local town (make sure the proper authorities are aware you’re doing it) just to get the word out!
